Gastroduodenal artery aneurysm presenting as chronic gastrointestinal blood loss.

چکیده
Gasiroititestinal hemorrhage is common in patients with chronic pancreatitis. The bleeding source is usually the mucosa ofthe stomach and duodenum. Gastroduodenal artery ancurysms in patients with pancreatitis are rare, but frequently present with massive upper intestinal bleeding. We present a case of recurrent occult and overt gastrointestinal bleeding over a t-year period in a patient with a clinically silent pancreatic pseudocyst. The final diagnosis was established by endoscopic visualization of bleeding from the ampulla of Vater. The natural history and the approach to diagnosis and treatment of peripancreatic pseudoaneurysms is reviewed.

Embolisation of gastroduodenal artery aneurysm caused by chronic pancreatitis.
Chronic pancreatitis is known to cause vascular lesions, which produce gastrointestinal haemorrhage. Visceral vessel aneurysms are an unexpectedly common finding in arteriograms of patients with chronic pancreatitis. Gastrointestinal bleeding from these aneurysms carries a high mortality, making early diagnosis and treatment essential. Coeliac and mesenteric arteriography readily confirm the di...

A bleeding pseudoaneurysm of the peripancreatic artery can present with massive upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. History of pancreatitis and urgent imaging are crucial in the making of the diagnosis. Here, we report a patient with alcoholic chronic pancreatitis presented with ruptured pseudoaneurysm of gastroduodenal artery (GDA). He was treated with percutaneous angiographic embolisation.
متن کاملDiagnostic Pitfalls and Therapeutic Strategies in the Treatment of Pancreatic Duct Haemorrhage
Haemorrhage via the pancreatic duct, a rare cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), often poses a diagnostic dilemma. We analysed our experience with 10 patients (8 men, 2 women; mean age 44 years, range 34-62) treated during a 12 year period. All had a history of alcohol abuse and presented with major upper GIB requiring a median of 8 units (range 2-40) blood transfusion. Nine had uppe...
متن کاملTranscatheter Embolization of a Giant Gastroduodenal Artery Aneurysm: A Case Report
We report a case of a 51-year-old patient with chronic pancreatitis and a giant gastroduodenal artery pseudoaneurysm. Noninvasive radiological procedures precisely defined the gastroduodenal artery pseudoaneurysm. Catheter angiography revealed the site of extravazation in the upper third of the gastroduodenal artery, and enabled successful embolization with coils. Follow-up CD sonography confir...
متن کاملGastroduodenal artery aneurysm – A rare complication of traumatic pancreatic injury
Aneurysm of gastroduodenal artery (GDA) is rare. Most reported cases are due to pancreatitis and atherosclerosis; however, those following pancreatic trauma have not been reported. We encoun- tered GDA aneurysm in a patient of blunt abdominal trauma, who had pancreatic contusion and retroduodenal air on contrast enhanced computed tomography of abdomen. Emergency laparotomy for suspected duodena...
